Administration

Parish Council

The members of council are representatives of the parish.  They share responsibility with the Pastor for the spiritual and temporal administrations of the parish. Their purpose is to guide and assist the parish in the accomplishment of the parish mission and to be a voice by which all parishioners can make known their concerns and needs to the Pastor. They are also to establish clear and concise goals for the needs of the parish.  And they are to coordinate the projects and activities of all groups or organizations in the parish.

Every person 18 years or older who is a member of the parish is eligible to serve as a member.  There are 6 elected members who serve 3-year terms and 5 appointed members who serve.  The appointed members are from the Deanery, Finance, Spiritual Life, Ladies Org., Faith Formation and Maintenance. Two new members are elected each year.

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.   All parishioners are welcome. You are encouraged to refer your concerns about the parish to this council.

Faith Formation Commission

The faith formation commission is responsible for developing and recommending policies that promote the educational mission of the parish of the religious education programs from childhood to adulthood. Elected members of the Faith Formation Commission work together with the pastor and coordinator of religious education to assess the implementation and effectiveness of these policies, and serve as representatives of all parishioners. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month and are open to all parishioners.

The commission makes recommendations concerning the overall maintenance of the parish buildings and grounds, parish financial reports, the yearly budget, fund-raisers for the parish and the setting of salaries for parish employees.  This is a group of men and women selected according to their expertise to aid in the administration of the parish goods.  The group considers all suggestions presented by parishioners concerning the parish.

Music / Choir

Music is an essential part of our worship experience.  Music ministries realize this importance and are willing to work with dedication toward the fullest possible expression of sung prayer.  Our parish community benefits from the efforts of its music ministries in true celebration of God present in its gathering.  The members of the Choir and Musicians provide an opportunity for meaningful worship at liturgies throughout the year.  If you have a desire to sing or play a musical instrument and are willing to share your talents, we welcome you to join.

Greeters

Greeters and Ushers are ministers who welcome their parish family and visitors.  They are visible signs of the love we should show to those with whom we celebrate.  Greeters/Ushers welcome the worshippers and make them feel at home, seat them, help in the collection and offertory procession, and are helpful in providing information about the parish.  Families are invited to sign up for this ministry.

Readers / Lectors

The Proclamation of the Word involves more than reading stories.  Lectors present to the congregation the very word of God.  They proclaim the Word of God at Mass and other liturgical celebrations.  Teens and adults are encouraged to accept this ministry.  Training is provided and reading schedules are mailed out ahead of time to prepare.

Gift Bearers

Gift bearers present to the priest the water and wine that will become the Body and Blood of Christ and our weekly offering at the Consecration of the Mass.   Gift bearers serve in the name of all attending Mass.  Families are encouraged to participate in this service and would be scheduled about every three months.

Eucharistic Minister

Eucharistic Ministers are those men and women who help the priest distribute Communion at Mass. Before persons are formally commissioned to participate in this ministry, they are instructed and trained.

Home Communion Distributors is an important part of this ministry.  It involves carrying Holy Communion to the sick/housebound members of the parish family.  This ministry is most rewarding to both the minister and to the person he/she serves.  Not only do you bring the Eucharist, but also you may be the only visitor the house bound person sees in a week.  This is truly a work of mercy.
