 Hello! My name is Sally Teepe-Bertram and I am the Director/Teacher of St. John's Pre-school and Pre-primary. As a parent co-op preschool, I will provide a program beneficial to both the parents and the child. Each child will be helped to discover what their worth is to themselves and to others. Your child will also gain the experience of sharing you, their parents, with other children. You, the parents, will gain perspective of your child and the age group in general. You can help us by contributing ideas and talents. You will also learn about your child's experiences by attending our parent programs and by helping out once a month in your child's classroom. I will also be able to answer any questions you have about St. John's Pre-school or your child by calling 812.576.2197 after 4:00 pm. We also hold conferences each year in the month of January to update you on your child's progress.

 

 Meet Our Teachers

 
   
Miss Sally graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1981 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She is our school director and teaches in two of our four to five year old classes.

 
   
Miss Debbie has been awarded her CDA and has been teaching with us for nine years. She teaches one of our four to five year old classes.

 
   
   
   
   
   

 

 Our Learning Centers
     
Classroom One - In this room, your child will work one on one with the teacher and/or parent helper. In this room, we have our water/sand table, easel, science activities, as well as games and puzzles.
 Classroom Two - In this room, we have our computers, our reading center, cut and paste activities, and additional games and learning centers. Your child will work on another activity on a one-on-one basis. Pre-Primary Classroom - Our Pre-Primary classroom encompasses all aspects of learning. We have our student tables, computers, roundtable for learning, and play area. St. John's follows Indiana pre-primary state standards for education.
     
Snack Room - Snack time is a special time for your child when you are there. When it is your turn to be the parent helper, your child will assist you in preparing the room and setting out the snack. Muscle Room - The muscle room is a great area where the kids can climb and play, role play, express real-life experiences, and sing songs. Play Yard - The play yard is an area where kids can climb and swing. We have a play house and several riding toys.

 

Our Policies and Procedures

It is our mission at St. John's Pre-school and Pre-primary to provide a program
beneficial to the parent and child. We are the only parent co-op preschool in our area.

Indiana State Law does not require part-time preschools to be licensed by the state. For
the benefit of the children and for safety reasons, I feel it is very important for St. John's to follow
the Indiana State Laws pertaining to child daycare. Therefore, we will do our best to stay in compliance.

Each parent of a pre-schooler is expected to help out in their child's classroom once a month.
If a parent is unable to help, it is that parent's responsibility to find another helper. The helper
needs to be of 18 years of age.

Each day consists of time in our muscle room, story time, classroom time, computer time,
snack, outside play time (weather permitting), and group time. We have three parties during
the year: Halloween, Christmas, and Valentines. Parents can serve on the committee to plan these
parties and they work in conjunction with your child's teacher in planning and implementing.
We also attend various field trips throughout the year.

We encourage creative play. Some of our activities include block building, easel painting,
finger painting, pasting and gluing, chalk, crayoning, cutting, play dough, silly putty, music,
story time, water and sand play, housekeeping, muscle room time, and computer time.
